Are the characters in your book kind of ruthless and insensitive? Almost like they are numb to death.
Not exactly at this point because in my book, George Rauch is telling about the time his parents were hiding Jewish people in their attic, so that shows some risk.
In your book was there fear being shown at any point?
Yeah fear is seen pretty much the entire time, because my guys are already in battle.
In mine the narrator says that war is horrible and each character agrees but, they act like death is normal. Does yours talk abouth death?
That's cool my book hasn't gotten to war yet. When I do we can compare war between the countries.
OK, does yours have any kind of positivity at all because mine doesn't?
Well they don't really talk much about death yet but Raunch is certainly scared because he is not supposed to be in the German army so I guess you could say he is scared of dying
Mine hasn't really had much positivity either. Just him being alive so far is probably the only positive things right now.
Once the war begins for your book look for a negative tone.
What's the setting like in the beginning of your book?
It starts in the trenches of a battle in the middle of winter.
Mine has no real storyline with a specific rise and fall, it just tells the cruelty of what soldiers went through. Does it seem like yours will have a plot?
Dang that's fye, mine starts out with Raunch getting dressed in his uniform and shinning his boots, because he has to meet with commander Poppinger, which makes him nervous.
Does yours talk about the “patriotic duty” that people in europe felt in the 19th century?
Well I haven't gotten that far, but It started with him in the army, but the title of part one is called "secrets in the attic" so I think it will go back and explain everything.
I think both of our main characters were forced into war.
No mine hasn't talked about that yet.
What kind of weapons is your book using in war?
So we can compare the technological advances between the two?
Well I guess you could say they were both forced into war because Rauch did it to save his life and the Germans thought he would be useful.
IK you haven't gotten that far but didn't your guy join only to save his family?
It hasn't really talked about specific weapons yet.
Idk know if it were to save his family or him because I haven't gotten that far
Somebody already died in mine.
Yeah neither has mine but it mentioned shooting ranges, so I'm assuming they have guns.
Jeez man was it an important character?
Mines is super intense. He got his leg amputee because of a gun shot wound but then got an infection.
Dang do u like ur book so far?
I guess he wasn't that important. He was the main guys best friend from school before the war.
Oh maybe that will affect the main character's decisions in the future.
I mean its good but it's kind of depressing
My guys finally did something outside of fighting in battle.
Well Rauch is in labor camps now because the germans are noticing that he is trying to avoid everything.
My guys are fully broken down from what they used to be. Their envious of prisioners.
Are your guys becoming less human as they continue you to fight.
Yeah most definetley, they've gone from normal to scared to numb to everything. how about your guys?
Well not really because Raunch is trying to escape conflict and trying to stay alive for as long as he can.
Has anything sad happened in yours at all?
Well everything is sad buddy because its during the Holocaust
Yeah I know that but I'm saying like have people died around your main guy?
Because people die left and right in mine and on top of all the death Paul's mom has stage four lung cancer.
Wow thats deep, but in my book Rauch goes through war in trenches, trying survive in the russian winter, and try to avoid starvation.
Starvation is a big problem for my guys too. They aren't given proper meals
Thats a similarity.
